It is safe to say that the Rangers fans were pretty confident coming into the league season, despite having finished trophyless the last time around. Now, to be fair to them, the club have made more high-profile signings than Celtic this summer till now. But they already find themselves trailing the Hoops by three points, after matchday 1.

That is not the start that Michael Beale would have been hoping for. His side ended up losing 1-0 against Kilmarnock.

On the other hand, Celtic were not at their best either. But they were good enough to get a 4-2 win over Ross County, with David Turnbull scoring a brace while Kyogo and Matt O’Riley found the back of the net as well.

All things considered, the Rangers are not in a good position even though only one match has been played. Three points are significant in the Premiership, where the Glasgow giants seldom drop points. So, unsurprisingly, their fans were not happy with the result.

Several of the Rangers’ supporters took to Twitter after the game to let their feelings be known. And quite a few believed that Beale was not going to remain in the managerial hot seat till the end of the season.

Of course, Celtic must focus only on the task at hand. And Brendan Rodgers’ side have plenty of room for improvement as well. They were nowhere near their best against Ross County and must do better as the season progresses.

But then, maybe that is the sign of a side that is champions. They know how to get the job done even on bad days. Celtic certainly did that this weekend. One would expect them to get better over the coming weeks. As for the Rangers, let’s see how things play out for them from here.
