Celtic have already lost one key starter this summer in the form of Jota. And now, it looks like they are set to lose another one. He has been linked with a move away from Parkhead for a while already and now, it looks like Carl Starfelt is pretty much on the verge of leaving the club he joined a couple of years ago.

Starfelt has been a key player for Celtic since arriving in the summer of 2021. He has been a nailed-on starter in the heart of defence alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers, with whom he has gone on to form a brilliant partnership, which has delivered five trophies over the course of two seasons.

Unfortunately, it looks like that partnership is set to come to an end pretty soon. Brendan Rodgers’ comments on Flag Day left very little doubt that Starfelt was set to leave.

Now, there is a further update on the situation of Starfelt as well. And it looks like he is headed to Spain.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Celta Vigo are closing in on a deal with Celtic for Starfelt. Personal terms have been agreed and the clubs are now on the verge of completing the deal.

Starfelt leaving will come as a blow for Celtic without a shadow of a doubt. The Swede has been a very important part of this team for a while. In fact, it often feels like he does not get enough credit for what he has brought to the table during his time in Glasgow.

Celtic have signed a new centre-back this summer in the form of Maik Nawrocki. The Polish youth international did start the game against Ross County as well. But it would be a big ask of him if he is placed as a starter immediately.
