Celtic boss looking to sign Manchester City midfielder
Celtic have already added a couple of midfielders to their ranks this summer in the form of Odin Thiago Holm and Kwon Hyeok-kyu. On top of that, they already had a stacked midfield with players like Callum McGregor, Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate, Tomoki Iwata and David Turnbull, all expected to be in the mix.
That is a lot of depth for three midfield positions. Thus, it is hard to imagine that Celtic would go after another midfielder this summer.
Yet, there are question marks over the futures of a few. Especially Hatate, who was under par in pre-season and was left out of the starting XI on Flag Day. The Japanese midfielder has been linked with a move away for a while. On the other hand, there have been rumours surrounding O’Riley for a long time as well.
If any of their midfielders were to leave this summer, it looks like Brendan Rodgers already has a potential replacement in sight. He currently plays for Manchester City but is expected to depart.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Rodgers is a fan of Tommy Doyle, who looks set to move on in this summer transfer window. The manager is ready to swoop if he loses any of his current Celtic squad.
Doyle is 21 years of age and very highly rated. But like so many talented youngsters of his age group, he has struggled to get into what is one of the greatest teams in Premier League history, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Thus, Doyle leaving this summer would not come as a surprise. He spent the previous campaign on loan at Sheffield United and helped them gain promotion. Other than that, he has had spells at Hamburg and Cardiff City. The 21-year-old has also represented England at multiple youth levels.
