There are quite a few players at Celtic right now, who are not expected to be contending for first-team minutes moving forward. For them, leaving the club this summer might be the best step. And it remains to be seen if exits end up transpiring before the ongoing transfer window slams shut.
One player who could certainly do with a move away from Celtic is Ismaila Soro. The Ivorian midfielder spent the previous seasons out on loan in Portugal.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for him this time around. But it certainly does not feel that he would be a major part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans, especially when you consider the depth that the Hoops have in the middle of the park right now.
It looks like Soro might have his eyes set on a move to the French Ligue 2 as well. But an unexpected problem has arisen in that potential move.
Celtic player agrees to join Ligue 2 club this summer
As reported by Foot Mercato, Soro has agreed to join Valenciennes in Ligue 2. But an agent-related problem has arisen in this file.
Now, it remains to be seen if this problem is solved over the coming weeks and if Soro ends up getting his move to Ligue 2. Him leaving Celtic at this point in time would be the best step forward for all parties involved.
Soro has simply not been able to impress during his time as a Celtic player except for a brief spell in the 2020/21 campaign. Under the management of Ange Postecoglou, he barely played in the 2021/22 season and spent the following one out on loan at FC Arouca.
Celtic fans would be hoping that the Ivory Coast midfielder ends up getting his move to Valenciennes. But there might be a few hurdles on the path to that.
