When Brendan Rodgers was appointed as the Celtic manager for the second time in his career, rumours broke out that the club were looking to make some marquee signings this summer in order to back the Northern Irishman. Till now, that has not happened but with a month left in the transfer window, there is time left for that to change.
It remains to be seen how things will play out over the coming weeks. One player that Celtic have been heavily linked with this summer is Tete.
It is believed that Tete recently terminated his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk and is now available as a free agent. Thus, Celtic making a move for the Brazilian winger would make sense and he could be the potential replacement for Jota.
On paper, it makes a lot of sense. Tete has even played under the management of Rodgers in the past. And yet, it looks like the rumours linking the club with the Brazilian winger might not be accurate.
Celtic not interested in €20 million player despite rumours
As reported by Football Scotland, Tete will not be arriving in Glasgow. The Brazilian winger has been linked numerous times with Celtic but it is understood that those links are wide of the mark.
So, it looks like the entire Tete to Celtic transfer saga is headed nowhere. And it will be interesting to see if the Hoops even end up going for another winger to replace Jota, having already brought in Yang Hyun-jun and Marco Tilio this summer.
To be very honest, this summer transfer window has been pretty underwhelming for Celtic fans. There were rumours earlier that Rodgers had been handed a £30 million budget to improve his squad. On top of that, Jota left in a £25 million move. Nothing close to that has been reinvested yet though.
