Celtic have already signed five players this summer and are not expected to make further additions before the first league game of the season, against Ross County. All the fresh faces who have arrived at Parkhead are highly-rated youngsters with a ton of potential. At the same time, the club must add some experienced and established stars to their squad as well.
There had been rumours of them making marquee signings when Brendan Rodgers was appointed as manager. Till now, that has not materialised. Hopefully, it will change over the coming weeks.
One of the big-name players that the club have been linked with is Tete. The Brazilian winger is believed to have terminated his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk recently and is available as a free agent as a result.
Signing someone of Tete’s quality on a free transfer would be considered a major coup for most clubs around Europe. It remains to be seen if Celtic are able to pull it off. The competition for his signature appears to be increasing though.
Everton transfer update hands fresh problem to Celtic
Celtic and Fenerbahce were rumoured to be the two clubs leading the race for Tete till now. But Everton appear to be potential candidates for his signature as well.
The Toffees seem to have the Brazilian winger as an alternative target. As reported by Football Transfers, Everton will look to sign Tete if they are unable to find a middle ground with Leeds United over a transfer fee for Wilfried Gnonto.
Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Tete this summer. Celtic could be a great club for his development. They can offer him the chance to win trophies consistently as well as Champions League football next season. Also, the Brazilian has already worked with Rodgers, while on loan at Leicester City.
