Celtic are less than a week away from the start of the new Premiership campaign. They have had a decent pre-season and should be confident of their chances against Ross County on Flag Day. Before that they have a friendly to play against Athletic Bilbao as well, in what would be James Forrest’s Testimonial.

The Hoops have their fair share of problems at the moment as well. One of them is the number of injuries that they are dealing with, especially when it comes to their defence.

Several key players are dealing with injuries or recovering from them. And that has left Brendan Rodgers with very few options to pick his backline from. There is some good news in that regard though.

It looks like Maik Nawrocki has recovered from his issue and is ready to play. As reported by Football Scotland, the new Celtic signing told Sky Sports:

"“I’m ready to play tomorrow. It was better to stay one more day off, than coming back too early.”"

Celtic have signed Nawrocki this summer from Legia Warsaw for a transfer fee believed to be north of £4 million. The Hoops have a great record when it comes to signing players from the Polish club.

The likes of Artur Boruc and Josip Juranovic were signed from Legia Warsaw. Thus, Celtic fans will be hoping that Nawrocki will follow in their footsteps as well and become a success at Parkhead. Let’s see how things turn out for the Polish centre-back.

He is 22 years of age and has plenty of time to develop and get even better. At the same time, it will not be an easy task to get ahead of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt in the centre-back pecking order. They have established themselves as the first-choice duo in the heart of defence over the past two campaigns, contributing to Celtic winning five trophies over that period of time.
