Celtic are coming off winning a treble. Thus, there is no doubt that that is a brilliant group of players. There were fears that the departure of Ange Postecoglou would have a major impact on the team but the club have done very well to replace the Australian with Brendan Rodgers, a superb manager in his own right, who is already a proven success in Scottish football as well.
That being said, there are some areas where Celtic need to improve in the ongoing summer transfer window. One of them is the goalkeeper.
Joe Hart has done a very good job for Celtic over the past two seasons. But one also has to recognise that he is 36 years of age now and not a long-term solution between the posts. On top of that, his recent performances have come under quite a bit of criticism.
So, Celtic fans were delighted to see the club being linked with Dominik Livakovic earlier on in the summer transfer window. Those rumours faded away for a while, as it looked like he was headed for Fenerbahce. But now, it looks like that might not be the case after all.
Celtic handed superb boost by Keylor Navas news
As reported by SonDakika, Fenerbahce wants to establish an ambitious squad for the new season and plans to sign Navas. The Turkish club’s route was turned to the PSG goalkeeper, as an agreement has not been reached on the transfer of Livakovic yet.
Navas is one of the best goalkeepers of this generation. And it feels like he never gets the credit that he deserves.
On the other hand, if Fenerbahce did end up signing Navas then it could clear the path for Celtic to make their move for Livakovic. The Croatian international number one could be the perfect signing for the Hoops.
