Celtic have already made quite a few additions this summer. There were rumours about potential marquee signings but till now, the club have stuck to bringing in highly-rated youngsters from around the globe. The five players who the Hoops have signed in the ongoing transfer window are Odin Thiago Holm, Marco Tilio, Yang Hyun-jun, Kwon Hyeok-kyu and Maik Nawrocki.

Of course, there are plenty of other players who they have been linked with as well. One such player is Egyptian international, Mohamed Reda.

Reda currently plays for Future FC and has represented the Egyptian national team as well. He is 22 years of age and a central midfielder, although he is capable of playing further up the pitch as well.

Reda was linked with a move to Parkhead earlier on in the window although there have not been many rumours since then. But the Egyptian player has confirmed that Celtic were interested in signing him.

Egyptian player claims Celtic were very interested in signing him

As reported by the Daily Record, Reda said:

"“There was a lot of interest in me over the summer. Al Ahly talked to me a few times, but they couldn’t reach an agreement with my club Future FC. I don’t think Zamalek were ever really serious about a potential transfer with me to be honest.“But Scottish club Celtic were very interested in me either in a loan or a transfer. Nothing has happened so far though so I will just concentrate on playing football for Future FC.”"

Celtic have spread their scouting network further and wider over the past couple of seasons. Thus, rumours of them being interested in Reda would not have come as a surprise to anyone. He is one of the brightest young talents in Egyptian football right now.

Celtic have already signed a couple of midfielders this summer though, in the form of Holm and Kwon. Thus, it is hard to see them adding more players in that area of the pitch unless one or more leave the club at first.

Fans will be hoping that the Hoops bring in some established players next month, having already signed five highly-rated youngsters. It is important to find the right balance between youth and experience if they are to defend the three trophies next season and make an impact in Europe.
