Celtic have been linked with a lot of highly-rated players in recent times, as rumours have suggested that the club are prepared to make some marquee signings this summer. One player who would fall under that category is Tete. The Brazilian winger has recently become a free agent after bringing an end to his time at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Tete has already played under the management of Brendan Rodgers in the past, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Leicester City. Fans would be hoping that that connection helps Celtic land the Brazilian winger this summer.
Tete’s time at Leicester City was not a success but he has proven his talent at Shakhtar Donetsk and Lyon before that. Thus, signing the winger on a free transfer would be pretty much a no-brainer for the Hoops.
Unsurprisingly, other clubs are in the race to sign Tete as well. And they might actually have moved ahead of Celtic in the running for the Brazilian’s signature.
Celtic suffer blow in race to sign €20 million Tete for free
As reported by Sabah (via Daily Record), Tete will offer his suitors a final decision following a break in Bodrum. But Fenerbahce are reportedly leading the race to sign him.
It remains to be seen how things play out but for the moment, it looks like the Turkish side are the favourites to sign Tete this summer. Let’s see if Celtic are able to change the situation because someone like the Brazilian winger would be an excellent addition for the Scottish champions.
Celtic especially need a top-quality winger at this point in time, following the exit of Jota this summer. If they cannot sign Tete then they must turn their sights elsewhere, because that is a gap in the squad that needs to be filled in this transfer window.
