Celtic have continued to sign some very highly-rated youngsters from around the world this summer and it is good to see them sticking with the transfer strategy that brought them so much success under the management of Ange Postecoglou. At the same time though, they will have to bring in some experienced and established players as well, if they are to maintain a balance and make an impact at the Champions League level.

Thus, it will be interesting to see where Celtic’s recruitment plans head from here. And it could have a major impact on their season.

It looks like the Hoops might have an eye on a Newcastle United player though. As tweeted out by Mouth of the Tyne, Ryan Fraser is in talks with both Leeds United and Celtic.

While Newcastle United are coming off of their best season in years, Fraser had one to forget. He barely played and it is quite clear that he does not have much of a future at the club.

This is not the first time that Celtic have been linked with a move for Fraser. There were a lot of rumours about a potential Parkhead switch back in 2020 as well but he ended up joining Newcastle United instead.

His contract there runs until the summer of 2025. But it is believed that the Magpies are ready to part ways with the winger in this window itself. It remains to be seen if they are successful or not.

Fraser’s clearly played his best football at Bournemouth. But he is still 29 years of age. Thus, he could be a decent signing for the right transfer fee, especially with a replacement for Jota required.

Back in 2020, Celtic fans would have been delighted to bring in someone like Fraser. One does feel that they might be less receptive to the idea this time around.
