Celtic have enjoyed a lot of success in recent times. They have won eleven of the last twelve league titles, and have won a domestic treble in five of the last seven seasons. Despite that, there is one complaint that the supporters have had. And that is regarding the club’s inability to bring through their youth stars into the senior team.

It is always a matter of pride to see players come through the youth ranks at Celtic to establish themselves in the senior team. Callum McGregor made the journey from ball boy to club captain.

But there have been very few such examples in recent years. In fact, McGregor is the only regular starter right now, who came through the Celtic youth ranks. Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh have back up roles while James Forrest has lost his place in the team in recent years owing to fitness issues.

Celtic have some very highly-rated youngsters in their youth ranks right now. And it looks like quite a few of them are headed to the Austrian second division on loan to continue their development at the senior level.

Tobi Oluwayemi, Matthew Anderson and Ben McPherson are believed to be on their way to Admira Wacker on loan. And as tweeted out by Stephan Blumenschein, the fourth player to join the Austrian club from Celtic is said to be Joey Dawson.

Dawson was in spectacular form for Celtic B last season and there were calls from the fans for him to be given minutes at the senior level as well. But the youngster ended up suffering a serious injury earlier this year and underwent surgery.

There were suggestions that he might not be back in action before 2024. Thus, the rumours of the striker possibly heading to Admira Wacker on loan will come as a surprise to many.
