Celtic have been linked with a long list of players in recent times and they have already completed five signings as well. Odin Thiago Holm, Marco Tilio, Yang Hyun-jun, Kwon Hyeok-kyu and Maik Nawrocki are the fresh faces to have arrived at the club this summer. They are all highly-rated youngsters and are believed to have bright futures ahead of them. Sooner or later, the Hoops will need to add some experience to the squad as well though.

There were rumours of Celtic potentially breaking their transfer record, which is the £9 million fee they shelled out to sign Odsonne Edouard, and making some marquee signings. But there are some good players available as free agents as well.

One such player who has been linked with a move to Celtic is Mohamed Elyounoussi. The Norwegian international left Southampton this summer after his contract ran out with the English club.

But as reported by BT, Elyounoussi will be a new player for FC Copenhagen in a major transfer scoop for the club. The player was observed in Denmark on Thursday morning.

Elyounoussi spent a couple of seasons on loan at Celtic from Southampton. And he was pretty good during his time at Parkhead. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 24 goals and provided 14 assists in 67 appearances for the Hoops.

But it feels like he often does not get enough credit for the numbers he put up in a Celtic jersey. That is because he played his best football during the 2020/21 campaign, in which the club finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers in the league.

Not only did Elyounoussi prove effective, but he scored against big teams like AC Milan, Lille and the Rangers. Thus, signing someone like him on a free transfer would have been a smart move for Celtic.
