Despite the rumours of record-breaking signings this summer, Celtic have not made any such moves till now. Instead, they have brought in Odin Thiago Holm from Valerenga, Marco Tilio from Melbourne City FC, Yang Hyun-jun from Gangwon FC, Kwon Hyeok-kyu from Busan IPark and Maik Nawrocki from Legia Warsaw.

All of them are highly-rated youngsters, with the potential to develop into key players for Celtic in the future. At the same time though, they are not marquee additions by any stretch of the imagination.

After the early rumours, Celtic fans will be hoping for a marquee addition or two. And one such player that they have been linked with in recent times is Fabian Rieder of BSC Young Boys.

There were suggestions that Celtic were ready to shell out a transfer fee around €15 million to sign Rieder this summer. And now, they have been handed another boost in the race for the Swiss super talent.

Borussia Monchengladbach are another club who have been heavily linked with a move for Rieder in recent times. But it does not look like they are chasing his signature at the moment.

As tweeted out by Ben Heckner, Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director, Roland Virkus, said in a Sky Sport interview about a possible transfer for Rieder:

"“He’s a good player, but not an issue at the moment.”"

So, it looks like Borussia Monchengladbach are not in the race to sign Rieder at the moment. That does open up the door for Celtic a bit, if they are indeed looking to sign the Swiss international.

Rieder is a highly-rated talent and has already played at the top level. In fact, he has scored against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the UEFA Champions League. It would be a statement of intent from Celtic, if they are able to sign a youngster of his calibre.
