Celtic have quite the reputation for signing young talents from around the world, developing them at Parkhead and ultimately helping them get moves to one of the top five European leagues. Thus, the Hoops are obviously an attractive option for players looking to showcase their talents at a high level in Europe.
Just this summer, they have already completed three signings. The club have brought in Odin Thiago Holm from Valerenga, Marco Tilio from Melbourne City FC, Kwon Hyeok-Kyu from Busan IPark and Yang Hyun-jun from Gangwon FC. A move to sign Maik Nawrocki from Legia Warsaw is also believed to be on the verge of completion.
It is quite clear that the club have been focused on signing young talents this summer. None of those players are above 22 years of age.
And as tweeted out by MLS Transfers, Manchester United are actively scouting Seattle Sounders midfielder, Reed Baker-Whiting. Celtic, Man City, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, Freiburg have all scouted or expressed interest in him over the past 24-plus months.
Celtic linked with Manchester United transfer target
Baker-Whiting is just 18 years of age. He has played a decent bit of football for Seattle Sounders till now but cannot be considered as a regular for them by any means.
That has not stopped some of the biggest clubs in Europe from being linked with the youngster though. Considering the calibre of the teams seemingly interested in Baker-Whiting, he seems to be quite the talent.
Thus, Celtic signing him would have to be considered as a major coup. Baker-Whiting is a central midfielder, but appears to have the versatility to play in every midfield role, as a left winger and even as a right-back if the situation calls for it. It is unclear though whether the Hoops are still scouting or interested in him.
