Most of the Celtic headlines in recent days have been dominated by arrivals. The club recently announced the signings of Kwon Hyeok-kyu from Busan IPark and Yang Hyun-jun from Gangwon FC. They are believed to be close to signing Maik Nawrocki from Legia Warsaw in a £4 million transfer as well.

On the other hand, there are a few players who could head in the opposite direction as well and leave Celtic this summer, either on loan or on a permanent basis. One name who seems to fall under that category is Liam Scales.

Scales was signed from Shamrock Rovers in the summer of 2021. After an underwhelming debut campaign for Celtic, he spent last season out on loan at Aberdeen and actually impressed. And now, it looks like the Dons want him back.

As reported by the Daily Record, Aberdeen manager Barry Robson is keen to re-sign Scales. The Irishman remains a key target but the Dons will have to wait for Brendan Rodgers to assess his squad first.

Scales never got a real chance to prove himself under the management of Ange Postecoglou. Could that end up changing with Rodgers now sitting in the Parkhead hot seat?

Only time shall tell. But what we do know is that Scales was very impressive last season while away on loan at Aberdeen. He established himself as a nailed-on starter and played his part, as the Dons managed to recover from a bad start to the campaign and finished third.

Scales is certainly someone who can have a role in this Celtic squad. Is he good enough to be challenging for a starting spot though? That is the big question surrounding the Irish defender. And we might find out the answer to that very soon.
