Celtic have already lost one important player this summer in the form of Jota. The Portuguese winger departed Parkhead after two incredibly successful seasons in order to make a move to Al-Ittihad. He was instrumental to the Hoops’ successes under the management of Ange Postecoglou and thus, they will need to find a suitable replacement for him.

Another player who has been a nailed on starter for Celtic over the past two seasons is Carl Starfelt. The Swedish centre-back often does not get the credit that he deserves.

His performances appear to have caught the eye of other clubs though. And now, it looks like a summer transfer bid is being prepared.

As reported by Football Scotland, Spartak Moscow are preparing an offer for Starfelt. They are ready to approach Celtic with their opening transfer bid in the coming days.

Starfelt has been a regular in the starting XI for Celtic since he arrived in the summer of 2021. He is the regular partner to Cameron Carter-Vickers in the heart of defence and the two have formed a superb duo at the back for the Hoops.

Starfelt has looked nowhere near his best in the absence of Carter-Vickers though, who has been out of action for some time now, after undergoing surgery. One would hope that the two would resume their partnership once the American is back on the pitch.

On the other hand, Celtic are close to signing another centre-back this summer. A move for Maik Nawrocki is believed to be on the verge of completion.

That should not have an impact on Starfelt’s place in the squad though. Instead, it is Stephen Welsh, who is expected to leave this summer while there are already question marks over the future of Yuki Kobayashi as well.
