When Celtic brought back Brendan Rodgers for a second stint in the Parkhead hot seat, there were also rumours that the club were ready to sign some marquee players this summer in order to make sure that they could make an impact in the Champions League group stage next season. It remains to be seen that ends up happening or not, but till now, they have not made any additions of that magnitude.

One player that they have been heavily linked with though is Tete. The Brazilian winger is currently a part of Shakhtar Donetsk.

But he has spent more than a season out on loan. First he had a spell at Lyon, and then he spent the second half of the previous campaign with Leicester City. It looks like Tete is not keen on playing for Shakhtar Donetsk moving forward, due to the unfortunate global circumstances.

Tete played under the management of Rodgers for a while at Leicester City before he was shown the exit door by the Foxes in April. Could the two reunite at Celtic Park?

Transfer insider makes brilliant Tete to Celtic claim

As reported by GIVEMESPORT, transfer insider Dean Jones said:

"“He’s ready to leave Shakhtar. Brendan Rodgers has obviously admired this player for a long time. I’ve said in the past that I’m sceptical about links to previous clubs, but in this case, I believe there is some substance to it, and Tete would be a good asset.”"

Signing someone with the quality of Tete would have to be considered as a major coup for Celtic and it is exactly that type of addition that they need in order to replace Jota, who has left this summer. Now, let’s see if they can pull it off or not. This is an exciting time though.

Tete might not have been a success at Leicester City, but his loan spell at Lyon before that was very promising. And he has proven himself before that as well. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the Brazilian has scored 31 goals and provided 15 assists in 108 appearances and 6504 minutes of football for Shakhtar Donetsk so far.
