English club’s manager rules out move for Celtic player
Plenty of Celtic players have been linked with a move away from Parkhead this summer, whether that be on loan for the season or on a permanent basis. Pre-season training and friendly games will give Brendan Rodgers a chance to have a look at the squad available to him and make decisions about the futures of some.
One player who has been linked with a loan move away recently is Bosun Lawal. He has been a very highly-rated part of the club’s youth ranks for a while but has managed to make only one senior appearance.
Rumours have linked Lawal with Portsmouth and Bristol Rovers. But in case of the former, there seems to be no interest in signing the Celtic youngster this summer.
As reported by The News, Portsmouth head coach, John Mousinho, said about the rumours linking the club with a move for Lawal:
"‘There’s nothing in that, I don’t know where it has come from.‘We don’t need any more centre-halves, we have five and Connor (Ogilvie) can cover as well, so we are absolutely fine.‘Bosun is a really good young player, but I genuinely don’t know where that has come from.’"

Thus, it is pretty clear that Portsmouth will not be making a move for Lawal, as they already have five centre-backs at the club. It remains to be seen if the rumours linking the Celtic youngster with Bristol Rovers are accurate or not.
Celtic should think twice before loaning out Lawal though. Fans were left impressed with his performance in the pre-season friendly with Gamba Osaka.
Celtic look set to bring in a new centre-back in the form of Maik Nawrocki. But on the other hand, Stephen Welsh is expected to leave while there are question marks over Yuki Kobayashi’s suitability to Scottish football. As a result, someone like Lawal could be used as a cover option in the heart of defence next season, if the situation calls for it.
Let’s see how things play out. It is worth pointing out that his current deal is believed to run out next summer.
