Celtic are in the middle of a very important summer transfer window. With Ange Postecoglou leaving the club for Tottenham Hotspur, Brendan Rodgers has been brought back for a second stint in the Parkhead hot seat. The Hoops might have enjoyed a lot of success over the past two seasons, but they will need to reshape the squad according to the Northern Irishman’s plans and vision.

They have already lost a key player in the form of Jota. The Portuguese winger has left in order to join Al-Ittihad. And it is a slight concern that the club have not brought in a replacement yet, with the start of the new season only a couple of weeks away.

There are others who have headed out as well, either on a permanent basis or on loan. Their exits might not have as big of an impact though. Liam Shaw has joined that quickly growing list.

The midfielder did not seem to have a place in Postecoglou’s plans, and now with Rodgers in charge, he has headed out once again. As tweeted out by Celtic, Shaw has joined Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan.

The announcement of Shaw’s exit went under the radar. Firstly, because he has only featured a couple of times for Celtic over the past two seasons, spending most of his time out on loan. And secondly, because the move was announced just before the friendly against Gamba Osaka.

When Shaw was brought in, he was drawing comparisons with Kristoffer Ajer. Things have been tough for the midfielder though. He has spent half-a-season at Celtic, spending the rest out on loan at clubs like Motherwell, Morecambe FC and now, Wigan Athletic.

We can only wish Shaw the best of luck. Hopefully, he has a successful loan spell at Wigan Athletic.
