Celtic have a big season coming up. Not only do they have three trophies to defend, having won the domestic treble in the previous campaign, but they also will be in the UEFA Champions League group stage. With Ange Postecoglou gone and Brendan Rodgers back in the Parkhead hot seat, it will be very interesting to see how this team will do.
If Celtic are to be successful once again next season, one player who will have to perform at his best is Kyogo. The Japanese forward was the best player in Scottish football in the previous campaign, as he found the back of the net on 34 occasions.
There were some fears about Kyogo’s future, amidst links with several clubs and the arrival of a new manager in Rodgers. But a long-term contract extension has put those concerns to bed.
Daizen Maeda managed to score a hattrick in the recent pre-season friendly with Yokohama F. Marinos. On the other hand, Kyogo could only make a second-half appearance as a substitute, as it looks like he is dealing with a shoulder issue once again.
Celtic superstar dealing with shoulder injury once again
As reported by The National, Rodgers said about the situation of Kyogo:
"“Kyogo has obviously been brilliant for Celtic. But he’s still working his way back to fitness.“He’s had a bit of an issue with his shoulder hence the reason he only came on against Yokohama.”"
Celtic fans will surely be hoping that Kyogo returns to full fitness as soon as possible. It must be pointed out that this is not the first shoulder issue that the Japanese forward has faced since arriving in Glasgow. That is an area that he has injured a few times already.
Maeda’s hattrick will come as a relief to fans though. The club have two great strikers in the form of Kyogo and Oh Hyeon-gyu and perhaps the former Yokohama F. Marinos player could act as another option up top, even though he has mostly played on the left flank since joining Celtic.
