Celtic have enjoyed a lot of success on the pitch over the past couple of seasons, winning five of the last six domestic trophies. And with Brendan Rodgers arriving as the manager of the club this summer, they are expected to continue on that path. Unfortunately, the phrase ‘doing it in style’ might not be exactly appropriate this time around.
Over the last few years, the kits were getting a lot of praise from the supporters. That has changed this time around. The home kit left most people disappointed and now, the third kit has not done anything to lift the mood either.
Fans with a keen memory will remember that the kit had been accidentally released for a short period of time a while back. And now that the official launch has been done, the supporters did not seem impressed on social media at all.
A lot of that might be a result of the negativity that had already built up surrounding the home jersey for the 2023/24 season. When the third kit had been accidentally released earlier this year, the reaction to it was not this one-sided.
Celtic fans unhappy with the club’s morning announcement
In our opinion, the third kit is not bad, but it is not great either. It looks like something that would make a much better training shirt than it does a match jersey.
Celtic have produced some great kits since their partnership with Adidas started in 2020. But one has to admit that the jerseys produced for the 2023/24 campaign have missed the mark by quite some distance.
Ultimately, it is about winning on the pitch though. If Rodgers’ side can win domestic trophies and produce some memorable moments in Europe, then even these kits will eventually go down as classics and be fondly remembered by the fans.
