Celtic have been active in the summer transfer window for sure but most of their focus has been on bringing in highly-rated young talents from around the globe. Odin Thiago Holm has been signed from Valerenga and Marco Tilio from Melbourne City FC, while a double announcement for Kwon Hyeok-kyu and Yang Hyun-jun is believed to be very close as well.
Sooner or later, the focus will need to turn towards signing more experienced and established players. Under ideal circumstances, the club will bring in a top quality goalkeeper after missing out on Dominik Livakovic as well as a winger capable of replacing Jota, who has joined Al-Ittihad this summer.
They have been linked with Tete, who played for a few months under the management of Brendan Rodgers while on loan at Leicester City. And rumours have broken out that the Hoops are interested in another Brazilian winger, Ferreira of Gremio.
As tweeted out by Mark Hendry, Ferreira wants the move to Parkhead. Celtic were keen to sign him before Ange Postecoglou arrived in 2021 and appear to have rekindled that interest this summer.
£6 million player wants to join Celtic amid links
It is believed that it could take a transfer fee around £6 million to sign Ferreira. That should not be a major problem for Celtic, if they are certain that he is the right player for Brendan Rodgers’ team.
Ferreira has put up decent numbers for Gremio over the years. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 22 goals and provided 20 assists in 125 appearances for the Brazilian club till now.
One would expect those numbers to go higher while playing for a more dominant team like Celtic. But at the same time, there are big question marks over Ferreira’s fitness, as the 25-year-old Brazilian winger has suffered a couple of significant injuries over the past year and spent most of that time out on the sidelines.
