Celtic will need to strengthen their ranks this summer. The club have continued to add to their squad, having already brought in Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio. On the other hand, moves for Yang Hyun-jun and Kwon Hyeok-kyu are believed to be close as well. These are positive moves from the Hoops, but at the same time, they are not players proven at the top level.

Celtic will need some proven quality as well though. They have three trophies to defend and a guaranteed spot in the Champions League group stages.

There have been rumours about the club making some marquee signings, even though they already appear to have lost out in the race for Dominik Livakovic to Fenerbahce. Hopefully, some statement moves from Celtic are to come over the coming weeks and months.

One very good player is available as a free agent this summer though. That is none other than Mohamed Elyounoussi, who has already spent a couple of seasons on loan at Celtic in the past.

As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Anthony Joseph said regarding the situation of Celtic and Elyounoussi:

"“So there’s no rush for him because he’s available on a free so he’ll be weighing up his future. Celtic will be weighing up on other targets, but there’s a chance that the two parties could end up speaking and something could be done. But Elyounoussi is certainly a very good player to be available on a free transfer in this window.”"

Elyounoussi was very good during his two seasons at Celtic. And one often feels that he does not get enough credit due to the fact that his best performances came in the 2020/21 campaign, which was a disaster for the Hoops overall.

Elyounoussi is a solid player though. Southampton signed him from FC Basel for a transfer fee believed to be around £16 million. Now, he is available as a free agent and there is a very good chance for Celtic to sign him.

Elyounoussi is in the middle of his prime at 28 years of age. He must have improved as a player over the past couple of seasons as well, having played regular football at the Premier League level. Also, he remained injury-free as well.
