Celtic have not made the signing of Yang Hyun-jun official yet although Gangwon FC have released a statement on their Instagram already. Thus, it is only a matter of time and it seems like the Hoops are waiting for the right opportunity to break the news to the fans. In fact, the possibility of a double announcement cannot be ruled out either, as they are believed to be close to making their fourth signing of the summer as well.
The club have already signed Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio this summer, while Yang looks pretty much a Celtic player as well unless something unexpected happens. And now, it appears that they will be adding another South Korean talent to their ranks.
It is worth pointing out that Celtic already have Oh Hyeon-gyu, who has impressed in the chances that he has been given till now. Yang is expected to be arriving in Glasgow soon and it looks like he could be joined by Kwon Hyeok-kyu of Busan IPark.
As reported by the Daily Record, is set to sign for Celtic after Busan lPark manager, Park Jin-seop, confirmed that their K-League 2 game with Seongnam FC would be Kwon’s final match for the club and said:
"“It’s unfortunate, but the player’s future comes first, and growth comes first.”"
Celtic close to making another signing after Yang
Kwon currently plays in the K-League 2, the second division of South Korean football. That could lead to some fans raising their eyebrows at the idea of signing the midfielder.
The 22-year-old is still one of the highest rated talents in South Korean football though. And his style of play has earned comparisons with Manchester City’s Rodri. If Kwon is anywhere near as good, then Celtic would have pulled off a masterstroke.
It is in the defensive side of the game that Kwon shines and could prove to be a great fit in the Scottish Premiership. Hopefully, a deal gets over the line soon.
