When Ange Postecoglou decided to leave Celtic after the end of the previous season, many fans feared that it would lead to a change in the transfer policy which had brought the club so much success over the past couple of campaigns. Brendan Rodgers has ended up replacing the Australian in the Parkhead hot seat since then and is a proven winner himself.
Interestingly though, there has been no change in the club’s transfer policy this summer till now. They have continued to sign some of the most highly-rated young talents from around the globe.
This summer, they have already brought in Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio. They are also believed to be on the verge of signing Yang Hyun-jun from Gangwon FC. And now, it has emerged that the club are in talks over another South Korean player.
As tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, Celtic are in talks with Busan IPark over a potential deal to sign midfielder Hyeok-kyu Kwon. It is understood that the Hoops have been keeping an eye on the 22-year-old for some time now.
Celtic transfer talks over deal to sign midfielder confirmed
Kwon had been linked with a move to Celtic earlier this year as well, while Postecoglou was still the manager of the club. That time around, it did not end up working out. Let’s see if things change in this instance.
Kwon currently plays in the second division of South Korean football. Of course, that could lead to some fans raising their eyebrows.
Kwon is one of the most highly-rated young talents in South Korea right now though. He plays as a defensive midfielder and has earned comparisons with Manchester City’s Rodri for his style of play. At 22 years of age, he has plenty of time to develop and improve his game as well.
