Celtic have continued to strengthen their squad this summer. The club have already brought in two very highly rated young talents in the form of Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio. And now, the Hoops look set to make a third signing in this window as well, after being linked with him for several weeks now.
The player in question is none other than Yang Hyun-jun. He currently plays for Gangwon FC in the K-League.
Initially, it had looked like Gangwon FC were unwilling to part ways with Yang this summer. And it is not really hard to understand why, considering that they are near the bottom of the K-League table and trying to stay up in the top flight of South Korean football.
But over the last few days, there have been rumours that the club have changed their stance. A lot of that has had to do with Yang pushing for the move as well, both in public and behind the scenes. And now, it seems like it is finally over the line.
Celtic next signing official in early morning announcement
As tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, Gangwon FC have announced that winger Yang will join Celtic. He will say his goodbyes after today’s game against FC Seoul.
Thus, it looks like Celtic have got their hands on another very highly-rated talent in the form of Yang. He might not have been having a great season this time around, but a lot of that is down to Gangwon FC failing to perform.
Overall, there is no doubt about Yang’s quality and potential. He was the K-League Player of the Year in 2022. Also at 21 years of age, he has plenty of room for improvement and development, and Brendan Rodgers is a manager who has a good track record of getting the best out of youngsters.
