Celtic are expected to make a few big signings in this summer transfer window in order to make sure that Brendan Rodgers’ squad is ready to defend all three titles next season and also can make an impact in the Champions League, which they failed to do in the previous campaign. And a few positions could be of particular interest to the Northern Irish manager.

One position where Celtic might need to improve this summer is goalkeeper. Joe Hart is the number one there at this point of time.

Hart was brought in from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2021 and he has done a very good job till now, reestablishing some stability between the posts for Celtic. At the same time though, many have questioned his performances in recent times and believe that the Hoops need a new number one, if they want to be successful in Europe.

It seems that the club might have their eyes on strengthening between the posts as well. And a Croatian World Cup hero seems to be on their radar.

Celtic want to sign Croatia’s superstar at World Cup

As tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, it is understood that one Celtic transfer target who is being monitored closely is Croatia and Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper, Dominik Livakovic, who has a year left on his contract. Villarreal and Fenerbahce are also keen.

Livakovic is 28 years of age. Thus, someone like him could be the long-term solution between the posts, that Celtic have been looking for for years now. Hart was never going to be that player.

Livakovic was an absolute superstar for Croatia at the World Cup, as they managed to finish third in the competition. His performances caught the eye particularly. If Celtic can sign him, it would have to be considered as a major coup.
