Celtic made a fast start to the summer, confirming deals for Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio. Both are very highly rated talents, who are believed to have big futures ahead of them. Thus, they could prove to be great signings for the Hoops in the long term. Since then, things have moved a bit slower, but now, the club could be closing in on their third signing of the ongoing transfer window.
One player that they have been heavily linked with lately is Yang Hyun-jun. The Gangwon FC winger is believed to be one of the biggest talents in South Korean football right now.
Gangwon FC were believed to be reluctant to let him go though, as they are near the bottom of the K-League table right now. But rumours broke out recently that the club had changed their minds after holding talks with Yang.
There is some more positive news regarding the entire situation as well, as it feels like Celtic are getting closer to signing Yang. As tweeted out by Korea Football News, Gangwon FC have confirmed the signing of Welinton Junior from Portimonense.
Celtic closer to signing £2 million winger this summer
Welinton plays as a winger as well. Thus, it does feel like he might have been brought in as the replacement for Yang, who seems to be on his way to Celtic this summer.
Yang is another very highly rated talent, who will need some developing. But if he can fulfil his potential, he can be a superb player for the Hoops.
Of course, a deal does not seem to be over the line yet. Nothing should be taken for granted before an official announcement is made. But all signs seem to be pointing towards Yang ending up at Celtic Park in the very near future.
