Celtic are in the middle of an interesting summer transfer window. On one hand, they have added two very highly rated young talents in the form of Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio. On the other hand, they have seen Jota depart to join Al-Ittihad. Conor Hazard is believed to be on his way out as well.
One issue that Celtic have faced in recent years is their inability to bring through their youth stars into the senior team. And that has led to several of their most highly-rated youngsters departing Parkhead.
Another one has joined that list in the form of Tsoanelo Letsosa. The Scottish youth international was immensely impressive at the Celtic B level.
It is believed that Celtic wanted to keep him at the club and offered him new terms, but the midfielder turned it down. And as tweeted out by Lommel SK, Letsosa has joined the Belgian club.
Midfielder completes Celtic exit to join Belgian club
Lommel SK currently play in the second division of Belgian football. But they are part of the City Football Group. Thus, performing for them might lead to big moves elsewhere in the future for a player like Letsosa and it is not hard to see why he chose to join them. It remains to be seen how his career at the senior level goes.
Celtic must rectify their issues when it comes to developing youngsters into first-team players though. The only one to come through the club’s youth ranks and be a regular starter right now is Callum McGregor.
Hopefully, things will change under the management of Rodgers. The Northern Irishman does have a solid record of developing and improving young players. Celtic do have a few very highly rated prospects right now as well, like Rocco Vata and Ben Summers, who have a bright future ahead.
