As is the case every summer, there are a lot of rumours surrounding Celtic, regarding both incomings and outgoings. The club have been very active in this window already as well. Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio have been already signed, while a move for Yang Hyun-jun seems to be a possibility as well. On the other hand, Jota has completed a blockbuster move to Al-Ittihad while Conor Hazard could be on the verge of an exit too.

When Brendan Rodgers was appointed as the manager of Celtic this summer, rumours suggested that he had been promised a big transfer budget. As a result, fans are expecting some marquee signings as well.

One player who has been linked with a move to Celtic recently is Scott McTominay. He appears to have slipped down the pecking order in Erik ten Hag’s side and is expected to leave Manchester United this summer.

Many fans doubt that the Scottish international would end up at Celtic though, unless it is on a loan deal. And there is expected to be no lack of interest in signing McTominay on a permanent basis this summer.

McTominay to Celtic transfer verdict emerges

As reported by Football Insider, Alan Hutton said:

"“As soon as the window opens you see some crazy things.“I think we are talking about a £40m player. A guy that probably does not want to leave Man United and is probably capable of fighting for his place there.“This is no disrespect to Scottish football or Celtic but the options he will have there [in England] will be teams like Newcastle who are in the Champions League, going for top four, that sort of stature of club.“If he was to leave I think he will have a lot options.“"

McTominay has been a part of Manchester United for years, having come through the club’s youth ranks. But it looks like his stint at Old Trafford is set to come to an end this summer.

Somebody like McTominay would be an incredible signing for Celtic. But it feels unlikely that he would end up at Parkhead anytime soon.

With Mason Mount arriving at Manchester United, McTominay looks set to be on his way out. Clubs like Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, AS Roma and more have been linked with the Scot though. And all of them seem like more likely destinations than Celtic.
