It would be safe to say that Celtic fans were left bitterly disappointed by Ange Postecoglou’s move to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer, merely days after guiding the Hoops to a domestic treble. The hope had been that the Australian would stay on at Parkhead for a while to come but that did not turn out to be the case.

Perhaps some offers are just too good to turn down. At 57 years of age, Postecoglou was not going to receive many more opportunities to manager a Big Six Premier League club. So, in some ways, his decision is understandable.

Many Celtic fans feared that Postecoglou would try to sign some of their players for Tottenham Hotspur. Reo Hatate, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Kyogo have all been linked with moves to the London club at one point or another.

But there is some good news in this regard. Michael Bridge wrote in his column in Sky Sports, regarding Postecoglou wanting Celtic players:

"My understanding is that’s currently not on the agenda.Postecoglou’s knowledge of the Asian market played a key role in Celtic’s brilliant first season under the Australian. It ultimately blew their rivals away.Three of his very successful signings – Kyogo, Reo Hatate and Jota – will be upset about his departure and all look more than capable of playing at a higher level, but whether they are the required level for Tottenham is another question."

Thus, it appears that Postecoglou is not looking to reunite with his former Celtic players at Tottenham Hotspur. That is great news for the Hoops to say the least.

Of course, that has not stopped key players from leaving the club. Jota has already completed a move to Al-Ittihad for a transfer fee believed to be around €30 million.

There are question marks over the futures of Hatate and Kyogo as well. One can only hope that they stay on though. Celtic have three trophies to defend next season as well as a guaranteed spot in the Champions League group stages once again.

Hopefully the arrival of Brendan Rodgers will help in this regard. The Northern Irishman is a big name in management, who has a reputation for improving players. Thus, working with him for at least a season, could help many to improve further.
