Celtic are in an interesting situation right now. They have a ‘new’ manager in place in the form of Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman might have achieved a lot of success during his first stint at Parkhead but that was quite some time ago and this is a very different roster. On top of that, the club appear to be close to losing one of their best players.

Jota is believed to be on the verge of a move to Al-Ittihad. And although nothing is set in stone yet, it is believed to be only a matter of time before the move goes through.

Jota is set to receive a life-changing salary from Al-Ittihad. On the other, Celtic will be pocketing a transfer fee north of £20 million as well, if the rumours are indeed accurate. Thus, it makes sense for all parties involved.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Al-Ittihad have prepared documents and contracts for Jota to join the club next week. The player has already accepted, and it is a work in progress between the clubs.

At this point of time, it is hard to imagine that the Jota exit will not take place. All signs point towards him ending up at Al-Ittihad very soon.

While a player of Jota’s quality leaving will be a major blow to the Celtic squad, the offer might be just too good for them to turn down. They will need to bring in a replacement quickly though.

Celtic cannot try to fill Jota’s void with a ‘project’ signing. They need to bring in someone who will be ready to come in and immediately take his place in the starting XI. The fans will be hoping for a repeat of the Scott Sinclair situation from Rodgers’ first stint at Parkhead.
