Most of the headlines over the past couple of days have been dominated by the news of Jota’s potential move to Al-Ittihad from Celtic and Aaron Mooy’s decision to retire. Understandably so, because both played a key part in the treble last season. The Hoops have also unveiled their home kit for the upcoming campaign, which has not gone down well with the supporters. But as a result of it all, the club’s signing of Marco Tilio has gone a bit under the radar.

Tilio has been signed from Melbourne City FC. And he is considered as one of the biggest talents in Australian football right now.

It also continues Celtic’s run of having an Australian player in the squad. Tom Rogic established himself as a club legend during his time at Parkhead. And Mooy was great last season as well.

Now, it remains to be seen what Tilio is able to do in a Celtic shirt. The Hoops certainly have big plans for him, as they have broken an Australian record to sign him.

As reported by Melbourne City FC’s official website, the move for Tilio has set a new Australian transfer record.

Tilio has certainly impressed during his time in the Australian top flight. He is capable of playing all across the forward line, as a number 10 or even in the role of an 8 if the situation calls for it. He looks at his best when on the right flank though.

Tilio is considered by many as the best dribbler in Australian football and his style has been compared to that of Phil Foden by some. Thus, if the 21-year-old can fulfil his potential, then he could be a key player in this Celtic team for years to come.
