Celtic are facing a very important summer transfer window. Ange Postecoglou has left in order to join Tottenham Hotspur and the club have replaced him with a proven winner in the form of Brendan Rodgers. The majority of this squad was assembled under the watchful eye of the Australian manager though, and it remains to be seen what the Northern Irishman is able to get out of them.

Celtic have a treble to defend next season, as well as a guaranteed spot in the Champions League group stage. Thus, it is important for the club to keep their best players while also bringing in reinforcements.

It looks like one of Celtic’s best performers over the past couple of seasons, might be closing in on an exit though. And that is none other than Jota.

As reported by Alkass Channel (via Daily Record), Al-Ittihad have agreed on personal terms with Jota.

It remains to be seen if that is indeed the case or not. A few days ago, rumours broke out about Reo Hatate closing in on a move to Al-Ittihad as well but his agent has ruled any such transfer out already.

Yes, plenty of Europe’s biggest names have moved to the league in recent times, including all-time greats like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and more. But Jota is in a very different situation right now.

The Portuguese winger is just 24 years of age, not in the twilight of his career. Thus, him making a move to Al-Ittihad at this stage of his career would not be the right move at all

Still, stranger things have happened in football. Some years back, we saw Brazilian international, Oscar, leave Chelsea for Shanghai Port FC in the middle of his prime. The only thing Celtic fans can do regarding the situation of Jota now is wait and watch.
