Celtic are heading towards a very important pre-season campaign. It will give incoming manager, Brendan Rodgers, the first chance to have a real look at the players available to him in a game situation. They might have enjoyed tremendous success under the management of Ange Postecoglou. But it remains to be seen if they will fit into the Northern Irishman’s plans.

The Hoops’ have a high profile pre-season tour coming up next month of Asia. They were due to play two matches in Japan before heading to South Korea to take on Wolves.

The club already have South Korean international, Oh Hyeon-gyu, in the ranks. And they have been linked with three players from the K-League in recent weeks. So, the match against Wolves could have been an interesting one for the fans there for sure. But unfortunately, it will not be happening.

As reported by Wolves on their official website, the club has been forced to withdraw from its pre-season fixtures and tour to South Korea. They were set to face Celtic and AS Roma.

That is a blow for Celtic and the fans for sure. Not only would the match against Wolves have been a high profile contest but at the same time, it would have helped them prepare for the upcoming season as well, as the Premier League regulars are a solid team.

It remains to be seen if a match is rescheduled for Celtic on their tour of South Korea with different opposition. Or if it won’t happen at all.

Of course, Celtic have a few other pre-season matches already in place. They will be taking on Yokohama F. Marinos and Gamba Osaka in Japan, and have a game scheduled to face La Liga giants, Athletic Bilbao, at Parkhead in August as well.
