Celtic are clearly looking to strengthen their squad following the return to Brendan Rodgers, to replace Ange Postecoglou in the Parkhead hot seat. The club have already signed Odin Thiago Holm from Valerenga. The second signing of the summer is expected to completed soon as well, with Marco Tilio believed to be on the verge of a switch to Glasgow.
The club are expected to make several more additions over the course of the coming months though. And it will also be interesting to see which players leave the club this summer.
One player that Celtic have been linked with in recent weeks is Zambian international, Kings Kangwa. He currently plays for Red Star Belgrade and has been very impressive with his performances.
Kangwa seems to have his eyes on a move to the Premier League though, in what will be a transfer blow to Celtic’s hopes of signing him. As reported by Football Scotland, he said in an interview with the Zambian Observer:
"“It’s every player’s dream to play in the EPL. Let’s wait and see. If a chance comes to play in the EPL, why not take it?“We shall cross the bridge when we get there. I am humbled by the interest I am receiving. Otherwise, I will continue to work hard until I reach the level I want to play.”"
€3 million transfer target hands blow to Celtic
It remains to be seen if Kangwa ends up getting his move to the Premier League this summer or not. It is more than likely that he will have to move to another club, before that.
Someone like Kangwa could actually be a solid addition in the middle of the park for Celtic. He has shown an incredible eye for goal in recent times, scoring twelve goals from midfield in the previous campaign. Thus, the Hoops could do with a player like him.
Celtic’s links with the midfielder are interesting as well, because there is a lot of uncertainty about the position right now. There have been suggestions that Aaron Mooy could retire this summer. On the other hand, Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley have both been linked with moves away.
