Celtic already have two pretty good options up front. Kyogo scored 34 goals last season and is the best player in Scottish football right now. On the other hand, Oh Hyeon-gyu had started to find his rhythm towards the end of the previous campaign as well and there will be high hopes from him come next season too.
Still, Celtic could do with another striker. They have another Champions League group stage campaign to play next season and it was their finishing which had let them down the last time around. They will be surely hoping to avoid a repeat of that.
Celtic have been linked with a few strikers in recent times. And it looks like an Ivorian youngster has caught their eye now, but he is also wanted by the Rangers and they are not the only ones either.
As reported by Alan Nixon on his Patreon (via Yorkshire Live), Sheffield United would rival both Rangers and Celtic for a deal for Benie Traore. Michael Beale’s side have had a £2.8 million transfer bid rejected already and an offer around £5 million may get the job done.
Celtic interested in £5 million Rangers target
£5 million would be a steep figure to shell out for a player who is still just 20 years of age. But Traore has certainly been putting up big numbers for Hacken in the Swedish top flight.
He has 12 goals to his name in just 13 Allsvenskan appearances in the ongoing campaign in Sweden. And there is very little doubt that the Ivorian is a top talent with an incredible eye for goal.
Brendan Rodgers has shown a great eye for a striker in the past. Both Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard were signed during his first stint as the manager of the club. And hopefully the Northern Irishman can repeat the trick moving forward as well.
