Brendan Rodgers is back as the manager of Celtic and looking to guide the club to more silverware. He won seven trophies the first time around, all domestic ones available to him. But the manner of his exit to Leicester City, in the middle of the season with two competitions still to play for, left a bitter taste in the mouths of the fans.

In a footballing sense, it was a no brainer to reappoint the Northern Irishman for a second stint in the Parkhead hot seat. But unsurprisingly, not everyone was happy with the decision to bring Rodgers back.

Now, one of Rodgers’ tasks will be getting the entire fanbase on his side. And he seems to have sent them a clear message about his intention to stay on at Celtic for the long run this time around.

In fact, Rodgers has even made a guarantee of his commitment. As reported by BBC, the Celtic manager said:

"“As a Celtic supporter, I understood what it meant. So that was my regret, that I hurt Celtic supporters and it’s a big part of coming back.“Hopefully in time, I can give you that feeling I gave you the first time. I don’t expect anything, but if I get that support, great.“For those who doubt, I’ve had that all my career so I will continue to work hard and hopefully a team that plays with the commitment people will enjoy. It will just take time.“I’ve signed for three years and I guarantee I’ll be here for three years unless I get emptied before that, as they say up here.”"

Rodgers sends unexpected message to Celtic fans

There is no better way to get fans back on your side than winning games of football and trophies. And in the past, Rodgers has shown that he has the ability to do that.

Not only did he win trophies with Celtic, but after leaving as well. He won the FA Cup and the Community Shield with Leicester City, and finished fifth in the Premier League with them on two separate occasions as well. Although his time with the Foxes did not have a happy ending, one has to admit that he enjoyed more success with them than anybody could have expected when he joined.

Hopefully, he will continue his run of winning silverware with Celtic too. He does have a very talented squad already and the club have started to add to it, already announcing the arrival of Odin Thiago Holm this summer.
