Celtic are expected to make significant additions to their squad this summer. Brendan Rodgers has arrived for his second stint as the manager of the club and rumours have suggested that he is set to receive backing to not only continue the dominance in Scotland but to also make a push in Europe.

Of course, the club have enjoyed a lot of success when it comes to making signings in recent times. But now with Ange Postecoglou leaving, the strategy is naturally expected to undergo a bit of a change.

Fans should expect the club to be linked with a lot more players, currently plying their trade down south. And there have been suggestions that they are now in talks to sign a defender from Arsenal.

As tweeted out by Olt Sports, Rob Holding is close to an Arsenal exit and will be available for a fee in the region of £8 million. Brentford, Celtic and one unnamed club are in discussion with the player’s representatives.

Holding has been a part of this Arsenal team for a long time, even though he might not be a nailed on starter for them. The English centre-back only has a year left on his deal though, and as a result, an exit looks likely this summer.

At 27 years of age, Holding is in the middle of his prime. But Celtic fans might not be overly impressed with the club being linked with the Arsenal player, and it remains to be seen if the Hoops do end up making a move for him or not.

Holding has been at Arsenal since 2016 but he was a regular starter for the club for only one season during that period of time. And with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt already established in the heart of defence, the Hoops might not need to splash out that kind of a transfer fee on a centre-back right now.
