Brendan Rodgers’ appointment might not have been universally supported by the Celtic fans but he was certainly the best option available to the club. The Northern Irishman has proven himself at Parkhead already. During his first stint with the Hoops, he won seven trophies, including two trebles and an Invincible season.

Rodgers continued to deliver after leaving Celtic as well. He won the FA Cup and the Community Shield with Leicester City. The Foxes also challenged for Champions League spots during his time in the hot seat.

Thus, there are high expectations from Rodgers, as he returns to Celtic for a second stint. If it is as successful as the first, then the Hoops are set to continue their dominance over Scottish football.

Some players appear to be considering their future in the game at the moment though. One of them is Aaron Mooy, who arrived at the club last summer and had an impressive debut campaign in Celtic colours.

As reported by FTBL, a well placed source stated that Mooy is “thinking things over with a new coach (Brendan Rodgers) about to take charge”.

Rumours about Mooy potentially retiring have been doing the rounds for a while now. He missed the last portion of the season with an injury. And the Australian is set to turn 33 years of age in September. In the past, there had also been suggestions that he was considering hanging up his boots, after a disappointing spell in China.

At this stage of his career, Mooy might not be keen on proving himself to a new manager and winning a place in the first-team. He is a signing from the Ange Postecoglou era and with the Australian leaving, to join Tottenham Hotspur, it should not come as a surprise that there is speculation over the midfielder as well. Let’s see what the future holds.
