Celtic are heading into a very important summer transfer window. They are yet to make a signing, as they were busy sorting out their managerial situation. But with Brendan Rodgers now in place in the Parkhead hot seat, fans will be hoping for multiple additions to the squad. Rumours have suggested that the Northern Irishman has been promised a significant budget to add to his ranks.

Celtic do have a great record in recent years when it comes to making signings. But with Ange Postecoglou leaving, it will be interesting to see if they continue on that path or start repeating mistakes from the past.

On the other hand, the eyes of the fans will be on the situation of a few former players as well, with sell-on clauses at play. One of them is Kieran Tierney.

The Arsenal left-back has been linked with a move to Newcastle United for a while now. But there has not been much movement in a while.

As reported by Chronicle Live, Tierney remains a key target for Newcastle United despite Arsenal driving a hard bargain for the left-back. The Magpies are also interested in Fulham’s Antonee Robinson though.

Thus, it looks like Eddie Howe’s side are keeping an eye on multiple targets for the left-back position. So, it is very possible that a move for Tierney might not materialise and that would see Celtic miss out on a sell-on fee.

There have been suggestions that Arsenal would look for a transfer fee north of £30 million to let Tierney go. That would mean a solid sell-on fee for Celtic, if a move does happen.

Tierney was viewed as a future Arsenal captain not too long ago. But he has slipped down the pecking order, and currently finds himself as an option on the bench.
