Celtic are entering a new era, with Brendan Rodgers returning to the club for a second stint as manager. The Northern Irishman won seven trophies last time around. Thus, hopes are high that this will be a silverware-filled run for the Hoops as well, and hopefully they will be making some progress in Europe too.
Of course, one would expect the squad to undergo some changes as well. This team has been very successful over the past couple of seasons and was mostly assembled under the management of Ange Postecoglou. Rodgers will be coming in with his own ideas though.
As is the case every summer, several of the club’s youngsters will be expected to go out on loan in search of regular football. Could one of them be headed to Fleetwood Town in the English League One?
As reported by the Daily Record, Fleetwood Town manager Scott Brown wants to sign Adam Montgomery on loan. St Johnstone would be interested in having the Celtic youngster back with them as well.
Brown wants to sign Celtic player this summer
Montgomery spent the previous season on loan at St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership. And he impressed to be honest. The 20-year-old seems to be making some good progress.
One would not expect him to be a regular starter anytime soon though. The club already have two left-backs in the form of Greg Taylor and Alexandro Bernabei. Thus, another spell out on loan seems to be the most likely step for Montgomery this summer.
One has to wonder whether a move to English League One would be the right step for him though. He should not have any problem getting a loan move to a Scottish Premiership side. But then, a different experience under the watchful eye of Broony could do Montgomery a world of good as well.
