Celtic have announced the appointment of Brendan Rodgers as the manager of the club for the second time. It is an ambitious move on the part of the Hoops to say the very least. When Ange Postecoglou left, they found themselves in a very difficult position. But it has not taken them long to come out that, and bring in someone who is a proven success in Scottish football to replace the Australian.
Now, it is about giving him the proper backing in order to make his second stint at Celtic a major success as well. And it looks like Rodgers could be looking to reunite with one of his former players.
As reported by TEAMtalk, Daniel Amartey is under strong consideration by Rodgers as a potential first signing. He is a free agent right now after leaving Leicester City at the end of his contract this summer.
Amartey was a regular for Leicester City during the time of Rodgers as the manager of the club. And he is clearly someone that the Northern Irishman rates very highly.

The fact that Amartey is available as a free agent makes him an even more attractive target for Celtic. He is also just 28 years of age and in the middle of his prime as a player.
Amartey is capable of playing in both defence and in the middle of the park. He does have a bit of an injury history though and that is something that the club must keep an eye on before making any moves.
Amartey does seem to have put his injury issues behind him in recent years though. And he is a regular for the Ghana national team as well. Thus, overall, he could be a solid signing as a free agent.
