The Brendan Rodgers to Celtic saga has dragged on a bit longer than many fans would have liked. So much so that quite a few have been left fearing a repeat of the Eddie Howe situation from a few summers ago, when the Englishman seemed on the verge of a move to Parkhead but the move collapsed.

All signs point towards Rodgers being headed to Celtic this summer though. And it would be a surprised if an announcement is not made soon.

Many reliable sources have reported that everything is pretty much done and it is just a matter of timing now. And let’s see when the right time turns out to be. There is great news for fans waiting for Rodgers to arrive though.

As reported by Sky Sports, Rodgers has agreed terms on a long-term deal to return to as Celtic manager. It looks like it is the paperwork that is being finalised and an announcement is expected this week. The Northern Irish seems set to be the highest-paid manager in the club’s history once again.

A lot of fans might not be happy to see Rodgers back at Celtic and understandably so. A little over four years ago, he left the club in the middle of the 2018/19 campaign in order to join Leicester City. The Foxes showed him the exit door last season.

Rodgers might be the best option available out there though, as proven managers are hard to come by at the moment. Thus, him returning would be the best step for the club.

Rodgers will have to win over a section of the Celtic support for sure. But if he can deliver trophies and impress in Europe, then they will find it much easier to forgive and forget.
