Celtic are believed to be on the verge of announcing Brendan Rodgers as the new manager of the club. Of course, considering how the Eddie Howe saga turned out a couple of years back, fans would be wary not to take anything for granted before an official announcement is made. But as things stand, it would be a major surprise if the Northern Irishman does not arrive from here.
Of course, Rodgers has already proven himself as capable of delivering success at Celtic Park, having won seven trophies in his earlier stint at the club. And it looks like the Hoops are ready to back him from the get go this time around.
When new managers arrive at Celtic, they are often handed 12-month rolling contracts. That was the deal Ange Postecoglou was on before leaving for Tottenham Hotspur. But it looks like that will not be the case with Rodgers, and understandably so.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Rodgers will earn in excess of £2.2 million a year for a long term deal, likely to be for five years. He will also be rewarded for success on the home and European fronts.
Celtic break tradition to bring back Rodgers
Thus, it looks like Celtic are all in on Rodgers and have gone all out to bring him back to Glasgow. And that is understandable as well, as he is most definitely the best option out there to replace Postecoglou.
Rodgers is a proven success. Not only at Celtic, but in the Premier League as well. His run at Leicester City might not have ended well, but he did win an FA Cup and a Community Shield with them, as well as challenging for Champions League spots on more than one occasion.
It was not too long ago that Rodgers was being linked with clubs like Manchester City and Barcelona. Thus, Celtic bringing him back would have to be considered as a major coup.
