Celtic are looking into a bit of an uncertain future at the moment. The first thing on the agenda has to be replacing Ange Postecoglou, who left for Tottenham Hotspur days after winning a treble with the Hoops. It does look like Brendan Rodgers will be the man in the Parkhead dugout come next season but an official announcement has not been made yet, and until that is done, nothing should be taken for granted.

After the search for a new manager is over the line, Celtic will need to strengthen their squad as well. They have three trophies to defend as well as a Champions League group stage campaign coming up.

One player who is going to be available as a free agent this summer is Mohamed Elyounoussi. Of course, Celtic fans will know him well as he has already spent a couple of seasons on loan at Parkhead.

There have been suggestions that a return to Celtic could be on the cards this summer and it is not hard to see why. But for the moment, it looks like Elyounoussi is only concentrated on his international duties.

Elyounoussi breaks silence amid Celtic return rumours

As reported by BBC, Elyounoussi said about his future:

"“Right now I am just focusing on the two games we have for Norway.“After I will take a break and look at options. There are some already.“It will depend on the whole package in terms of where and the contract situation, so it’s going to be interesting to see where I land.”"

Someone like Elyounoussi could be solid addition for Celtic as a free agent. He has already shown his qualities for the Hoops and was one of the only bright spots in the terrible 2020/21 campaign. Thus, it would be interesting to see what he is capable of in a team that is doing good.

At the same time though, Celtic do have quite a few options on the weeks and a nailed on starter in Jota. Thus, one has to wonder whether the club even need someone like Elyounoussi at this point of time. Of course, a lot will depend on what the next managers thinks, whoever that turns out to be.
