Celtic are set to enter a new chapter, as it looks like Brendan Rodgers is going to make a return to Parkhead for a second stint as the manager of the club. He was extremely successful the last time around, winning seven trophies himself and building the team that would ultimately go on to do the Quadruple Treble.

Thus, there is very little question about his ability to deliver silverware. He will have to win over a large portion of the fanbase though, who were left unhappy by the manner of his exit.

The team could undergo a bit of a shakeup as well. Rodgers will surely come with his won ideas, and that could open the door to the first-team for some players, who did not feature heavily under the management of Ange Postecoglou.

One player who will certainly be hoping for that to be the case is Mikey Johnston. He enjoyed a good spell out on loan at Vitoria SC and it remains to be seen if he can win back his place in the Celtic first-team next season.

Forgotten Celtic ace would be happy with Rodgers return

As reported by The Scottish Sun, when asked if he’d be happy if Rodgers returned, Johnston said:

"“Definitely. He gave me my debut and every player will love the guy who gave them their debut won’t they?“But he’s a great manager and if he came back to Celtic he would be unreal.“It’s a clean slate at Celtic as there will be a new manager, so I could be back there.“It’s the club I’ve always supported, I’d like to give it another go.“But we just have to wait and see what happens. Whatever I do next year I want to play every game.”"

While coming through the ranks, Johnston was expected to be the next big thing at Celtic. And he made a promising start to life at the senior level as well. It was not long before he was being considered as a potential 20-goal-a-season winger and even starting to nail down a spot in the first-team.

Things went south when he started to struggle to remain fit though. Soon, Johnston found himself on the periphery of the squad and has never really regained his spot in the pecking order. Could he enjoy a career revival at Celtic if Rodgers returned?
