Pundit claims Celtic player would want Tottenham Hotspur move
Tottenham Hotspur have already dealt a huge blow to Celtic by signing Ange Postecoglou, after two very successful seasons at Parkhead, which saw him win five trophies. Now, the Hoops need to replace the Australian and might actually do a very good job at that, if they are able to bring back Brendan Rodgers.
Of course, there is the worry that Postecoglou could look towards Celtic in the summer transfer window. The majority of the current squad was assembled under the Australian’s supervision.
One of the players who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur lately is Reo Hatate. Kyogo might have grabbed most of the headlines, but the Japanese midfield could be the one who is most Premier League-ready.
As reported by Football Insider, when asked if Hatate would be tempted to follow Postecoglou to Tottenham Hotspur, Alan Hutton said:
"“There is no doubt he would be temped.“We are talking about a top four, top six team, of course he would be interested.“That being said, I do not think that is the type of player Tottenham need. I think they need a more attacking, number ten type player like James Maddison.“Hatate has been excellent I just do not think that is what they need at this moment in time.“"

Hatate was signed by Celtic in January of 2022 from Kawasaki Frontale. And he quickly proved his value to the club, memorably scoring a brace in his first ever Glasgow Derby, a 3-0 win over the Rangers. It was that game which set Postecoglou’s side on their way to the Premiership crown.
He followed his strong start up with a brilliant 2022/23 campaign. Many would argue that Hatate was Celtic’s most important player last season even though the likes of Kyogo and Cameron Carter-Vickers might have grabbed more of the headlines.
Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the Celtic star. Of course, most players would find a move to the Premier League tempting. At the same time though, it is important to get the timing and destination right. Otherwise, his career could end up stagnating, as has happened to so many before him, who made the move the down south.
