One of the big problems that Celtic face in the summer transfer window is the risk of losing their best players to other clubs. Ange Postecoglou, who recently made the move to Tottenham Hotspur, is of course well aware of the skills of some of the club’s key stars, having brought them to Parkhead in the first place.

The Australian’s move to Tottenham Hotspur will increase that risk further as Postecoglou could look to reunite with some of his former players. Rumours have already suggested that the Premier League club could be particularly interested in Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate.

There is some good news on the Hatate front at least as Postecoglou appears to be looking to strengthen Spurs’ midfield. As reported by Football London, Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Conor Gallagher of Chelsea.

On the other hand, as tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are working on deals for both James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.

It may be that Hatate isn’t on Postecoglou’s radar anymore. The Japanese international was superb under his management at Celtic, but he might be looking for someone different for the role at the Premier League level.

We may yet see other interest in Hatate, but you would expect with his skill and potential that any new Celtic manager will want to retain him in their squad. Likewise for Kyogo, who drew more attention to his scoring prowess with a goal on his return for the Japan national team against El Salvador.

It is increasingly looking like Brendan Rodgers will be the manager of Celtic next season. And one can only hope that he is able to convince the club’s best players to stay on. With the quality available, the Hoops could make a mark in the Champions League.
